When children wonder
seeing us congenial
and delighted
with the spirit of a smile
shining across
towering faces,
it's really our flag levitated
by white and brown
and ruby lips
sparkling its beauty
and its stars
and
colorful ribbons.
Our euphoria has
its levity and
gravity,
an definition for
space-time
reality
and
intelligent gravitas.
A happy fabric
for babes to rest,
a splendid quilt;
magic carpet
for
souls and
people.
The magical fingers
and flutes
of God
moving
darkness
and
the impossible
so children
watch
mountains walk during historic
earth quakes,
taking their courage,
meeting change
and
feeling what they have
in their
unknowing grasps
can ignite
the visions for future trails.
Let them sleep now
on broad and solid shoulders
let us be comfortable
in our own creed and patriotic skin.
Prepare a world for imagination and
appetites to hear from them,
to hear from them.
